Do you want to introduce yourself and what your role is at Hope for Life Katanga? Yeah sure. My name is Francis and I am a Co-Founder and the Director here at Hope for Life Katanga (HFLK).
What does a Director of HFLK do day to day? I spend my days overseeing our 4 employees, recording all the finances and ensuring that we are doing all that we can for the families and community that we work for. Looking for new and more efficient ways to help families become self sustainable.
What sorts of work have you done before joining us at HFLK? For the past 9 years I have been working for an International charity for street children called Retrak as a Social Worker, in charge of Foster care. Previous to that I worked for Oasis Trust as a Senior Programs Officer, working with orphaned and slum-dwelling girls aged 4 – 18.
What did you study at University? I obtained a Bachelors Degree in Social Work and Social Administration from Makerere University.
Whats your favourite part of your work at HFLK? It’s great to see women earning money, from businesses we have helped them to set up but always love it when I hear we have another Sponsor to take a child to school.
And finally, what’s your favourite food? I find myself eating a Rolex quite often, which is a chapati with an omelette in the middle.
