A Fire in Katanga: The Final Update
On September the 21st, there was a fire at the home of one of the families we work with in Katanga.
Luckily no one was hurt but the family of seven lost everything, including their source of income. You generously donated and we were able to send the money to our Uganda Director. He withdrew it and helped the mother buy and transport the basic items needed for her family. Mamma Phildausi was also able to buy the things necessary to start working again, selling samosas, cakes, fruits and vegetables from outside the burnt out home.
On the 21st of October, One of our co-founders, Mark, went to visit Mamma Phildausi's house as the builders came in to renovate it. He also explained how the money you donated has been used to support the family.
On the 24th of October Mark revisited the Phildausi house. Check out the video to see how far it's come along!
We cannot thank you enough for the support that you have offered the Phildausi family in their time of need. Your generosity has helped a family to get back on its feet and allowed Mamma Phildausi to provide for herself again. Whilst many families in Kampala need some support in their efforts to become self-sustaining, this was a freak accident which could have been even more tragic without your kindness. Thank you!
