Further food parcels donated as lockdown continues

We provided food packages for each family as the government extends lockdown beyond the initial 35 days.

There continues to be a 7pm curfew, restricted travel and trading and limitations to on the numbers attending weddings, burial, places of worship and other events. Schools remain closed until sufficient vaccination of students 12-18 years. Learning should continue virtually.

There have been 1.15m Covid vaccinations given to date in a country with a population of 47m. Although reported positive cases are continuing to decrease as a result of the lockdown, related deaths have yet to follow the same downward trend.

We made the most of the slight loosening of restrictions to be able to deliver food packages to each of the families we work with. Despite maintaining contact with families on the phone during the extreme lockdown periods, it has been great to see everyone face to face again.

Restrictions will remain in place and will be reviewed every couple of weeks. It is unlikely that children will go back to school anytime soon, until a significant proportion of the children aged 12-18 are vaccinated.

We are still in need of more donations for our Covid relief support. Please donate today to support this life giving work.
