Musa’s Story

Musa (name changed) is 12 years old and is in p.4 class. He excelled in the last term (third term 2023) exams with good marks and was promoted to primary four. Musa has a teachable heart and he’s devoted to his studies. Despite the challenges faced in life, Musa has remained focused on his studies for he believes that through the education he’s acquiring now that’s how he will make it in life.

His teachers comment well on him, that Musa is a social boy whereby he interacts with many people freely and his heart is kind to other children, he extends help to whoever needs it as long as it is within his means. His social way of living has attracted more friends closer to him, some of which are more academic and has enabled Musa to improve on his performance. Musa is able to balance all the subjects well and his performance in each is excellent. He also participates well in the games at school. He has got favour that people around him love him thus he can fit in any society.

He had reached the age of being in school but his family was unable to afford education for him. Before joining HFL, he was one of the young boys who used to loiter around the community, picking empty plastic bottles and there was little hope of him ever attending school. He also used to get lost from home and he would occasionally spend days in a week without sleeping at home. Several times being picked up and returned by the police. By the time Musa joined the program, as young as he was, he had learned to use the vulgar words he had been accustomed to hearing at and around home.

Musa today is a modified person, a person who joined HFLK without knowing how to even handle a pencil, can now read and write as well as speak some simple English.

With counselling, attention and guidance provided to him by our team, Musa now is a humble boy, a good listener and very down to earth. God enabled him to listen and change. His transformation has attracted favors to his life that he’s loved by all people who come across him.

He is very bright in his academics and this is attributed to the sponsorship, helping him to acquire the education he deserves.
