The Power of Purpose Children's Conference

On the 12th December, we invited the 55 children we provide education scholarships for The Power of Purpose conference, aimed at inspiring and empowering children to discover their purpose in life, equipping them with tools to face challenges, and promoting their personal growth.

Program Overview

Opening | Praise and worship, with an opening prayer. Followed by a welcome address, setting the tone for the day.

Session 1 | Mental & Physical Health | Francis (HFL Co-founder) discussed the importance of mental and physical wellbeing, highlighting common challenges children face in their daily lives and providing practical strategies for overcoming these issues. He emphasized the need to maintain a positive mindset and prioritize self-care.

Session 2 | Career Guidance & Vision for the Future | Mr. Kiranda Abdul (Director of Studies, Kibuli Secondary School) motivated the children to discover their passions and create a vision for their future. He shared inspiring success stories, encouraging children to set goals and pursue their dreams. 

Session 3 | Building Healthy Relationships | Madam Nuluyat Namukasa (Child Crime Prevention Unit, Kibuye) focused on the importance of healthy relationships, proper communication, respecting boundaries, and handling peer pressure. This session also addressed the challenges children face in their adolescent years, especially in relation to social media use. 

In addition to the educational sessions, health support was provided in the form of deworming medication, and nutritious meals were served to all attendees.

Recognition of Achievements

The conference celebrated the achievements and growth of the children through various awards. The recognition categories highlighted different aspects of the children’s involvement and progress. There were winners for Best Performers (Primary), Best Performers (Secondary), Most Improved Character, and most involved in Project Activities. Well done Patience, Priscila, Vicent, Tracy, Jovan, Joshua, Ronnie, Najib, Racheal and Tadeo for your awards.

The event concluded on a high note, with a celebratory cake-cutting session and the children expressed their joy and appreciation for the event. The overall atmosphere throughout the day was positive with children actively participating, bonding with one another and engaging in the learning process.
